2008 Major update: Wellesley Increases Financial Aid; Boosts Grants, Reduces or Eliminates Loans

Dear Classmates,

Last year, our class achieved 35% participation in Annual Giving - thank you very much to those who contributed! For those who did not, we hope we can count on your PARTICIPATION in Wellesley's 2007-2008 fiscal year. The Class of '96 participation goal for Fiscal Year 2008 is 40%, and we need your help to reach this goal before Wellesley's fiscal year ends on June 30, 2008!

Why give to Wellesley?

Gifts to Wellesley provide the strength to:

  • continue need-blind admission;
  • recruit and retain world-class faculty members;
  • offer financial aid for study-abroad programs; and
  • sustain the campus as a wonderful learning environment.

Cast your vote of confidence in Wellesley by making a gift today!

I already paid my tuition, and I did not get any aid from Wellesley. Why should I give now?

ALL Wellesley students - even those who did not receive aid in the form of grants, scholarships, or loans - benefit from heavy subsidies. The cost of a Wellesley education is about twice the sticker price; the difference between the actual cost and the price is made up by alumnae gifts and the endowment.

How does Wellesley's aid to current students compare with similar academic institutions?

Wellesley is very competitive and we want to sustain this in order to continue to attract the best candidates!

I do not have room in my budget to give.

Make a gift at a level that fits your budget. Your PARTICIPATION alone in Annual Giving is incredibly valuable!

Who is involved in Annual Giving?

Annual Giving is currently coordinated by the class Annual Giving Representative, and by a team of Assistant Annual Giving Representatives. Following Reunion, I'm pleased to say that we have had a very strong response from within our class to raise awareness about Annual Giving. The entirely volunteer team includes:
